At bonial, our mission significantly impacts and benefits women in tech by fostering an inclusive and supportive environment where women can thrive. Through our Women in Tech Initiative, we unite women working in technology at bonial, creating a secure space for sharing insights, discussing challenges, and engaging in meaningful conversations about the tech environment. We aim to empower women through knowledge exchange and mutual understanding, enabling them to grow and excel in their careers. By championing a world beyond gender boundaries, we build a strong network of women and allies, facilitating connection, mentorship, and growth. This commitment not only supports our female employees but also contributes to the broader advancement of women in the tech community.

In the past 10 years, bonial has successfully expanded across Europe. What are the next steps for the company in 2024 and 2025, and how do these plans differ from the company’s pre-pandemic growth strategy?

bonial is leading the transition from paper to digital advertising, partnering with major retailers in Germany and France to provide alternatives to traditional printed catalogues and brochures. During the pandemic, there was a notable shift in consumer behavior towards online shopping due to necessity. However, this period also highlighted the value of in-store and social shopping experiences that many people missed.

Recognizing this, bonial took the opportunity to refine its purpose: to revitalize our hometowns by encouraging people to visit local stores and enjoy the full spectrum of life’s offerings. Looking to 2024 and 2025, bonial plans to further leverage digital innovation to enhance the shopping experience, driving foot traffic back to stores. This strategy represents a departure from our pre-pandemic focus, which centered more on expanding digital presence. Now, our efforts are equally directed towards integrating digital tools that support and enrich the physical retail environment, fostering vibrant local communities.

In what ways does bonial bolster and participate in the advancement of women within the tech community in Berlin?

bonial actively strengthens and participates in the advancement of women within the tech community in Berlin through several initiatives. Our Women in Tech Initiative is at the forefront, providing a platform for connection, mentorship, and growth. We host curated events and informal meetups, building a community where women in tech can thrive. Additionally, our workplace culture, which emphasizes diversity, equity, and inclusion, ensures that everyone can show and be their true selves. We offer flexible working hours, a hybrid model of remote and in-office work, and various well-being initiatives, such as an on-site gym as well as an Urban Sports Membership and mental-health subscription. This supportive and inclusive environment enables women to advance their careers and contribute meaningfully to the tech community.

What sets working at bonial apart from other adtech companies in Berlin, making it particularly fulfilling?

At bonial, we don’t merely see ourselves as an AdTech company, although we do build and leverage AdTech. More importantly, we create a platform that helps shoppers make informed buying decisions, positioning us as both a classified and advertising/media business. Despite our size, bonial offers many interesting challenges. We use AI to integrate data from various sources, scale our publication process to handle five times the content in the coming year, work with large amounts of data in real-time and for reporting, and push the usability of our applications to the limit. Additionally, we treat our engineering platform as a product, driven by a strong Platform Engineering team.

Could you give an overview of the technical job openings at bonial for the upcoming summer and fall seasons? Specifically, which positions are you aiming to fill during the OutGeekWomen x Berlin event in September?

We are expanding our team in Berlin and are eager to fill various tech, tech-adjacent, and non-tech positions this year. We are particularly seeking talented Software Engineers and Developers at all levels of seniority, along with Product Owners, Data Analysts, and Designers.

To ensure we meet and exceed client and user expectations, we are also looking for motivated Sales, Marketing, and Operations professionals. While a tech background is not required for these roles, we value candidates who are willing to learn about our app and its technical workings. Static and dynamic content editing

A rich text element can be used with static or dynamic content. For static content, just drop it into any page and begin editing. For dynamic content, add a rich text field to any collection and then connect a rich text element to that field in the settings panel. Voila!

How to customize formatting for each rich text

Headings, paragraphs, blockquotes, figures, images, and figure captions can all be styled after a class is added to the rich text element using the "When inside of" nested selector system.
