How many women work in tech?

In most countries, women hold between one in five and one in three tech jobs. Women hold 27.5% of computer and mathematical jobs in the United States and 19.5% of ICT specialist jobs across the European Union. Singapore, Brazil and India are well above that, and Japan and Mexico below it.

The share also changes by role. Women are better represented in UX/UI design, product management and data, and less so in infrastructure, DevOps and senior engineering. Each city guide shows where women work in that market.

Local groups make a difference. Most cities have meetups for Python, data, product and UX, plus networks for founders and returners. You’ll find them listed in every guide.
